Kristen Koenig had a love and respect for the game of basketball. She excelled on the court while starting on Varsity at DePaul Catholic High School. To honor her memory and love for the game her family has set up a scholarship fund in her name at DePaul Catholic. Kristen was a vibrant and energetic part of the class of 2002. She took part in every aspect of DePaul Catholic and left a lasting imprint on everyone there.
To help raise money for the scholarship her friends and family are organizing a Basketball Tournament. On March 6th, 2010 there will be a 3 on 3 tournament at DePaul Catholic. Two courts will be open to accommodate the different levels of players. One court will be a JV tournament, for those players just looking to have some fun. The other court will be a Varsity court, for those more serious players. Each team can be up to 4 people, we realize time has passed since high school and many of us are not in our prime any longer, and subs are needed. Each game will be 15 minutes in length so each game starts and ends at the same time. At the end of the tournament a winner will be determined from each court and trophies will be awarded!
Of course if you don’t want to play you can still come down! Food will be offered in the cafeteria, we’ll have music playing and of course we need cheerleaders to root everyone on! This will be a great event for a great cause and not to mention an unbelievably great person. Kristen touched so many people’s lives in such a short amount of time, let’s get together to honor her memory and shoot some hoops!
