On September 8, 2008 Kristen Marie Koenig lost her battle with angiosarcoma, a rare cancer. Throughout her battle she remained strong and never lost her ability to smile, laugh and crack jokes. Kristen was a strong willed, determined, motivated, hilarious and kind person. Her life was cut drastically short but her memory will live on forever in all those who knew her.
A scholarship fund has been set up in her honor at DePaul Catholic High School where Kristen excelled in athletics. During her 4 years she managed to balance academics with softball, soccer, track & field and her true love basketball. While doing all this she still remained a vibrant and energetic part of the class of 2002.
To honor one of her loves in her life we have started a Basketball Tournament to help raise money for the scholarship. On March 6th, 2010 we will have 2 courts open. One court is a JV tournament, for those just wanting to have some fun. The other court is our Varsity court, for those in it to win it! It will be 3 on 3 (each team can be up to 4 players since we understand some players may be out of their prime and may need a sub). Of course all are welcome to come down and cheer on those playing. We will have music, food, and a lot of fun!
More details will be posted as time goes on so please check back. Costs for playing will be posted by next week and how to submit payment will also be noted.
